Funded by the UCL Tobacco and Alcohol Research Group, Weald Creative produced an immersive story that helps smokers decide, once and for all, whether to quit.
Clear Roads Ahead introduces the smoker to their guide, Hope. Like them, Hope has been on this journey and finally quit smoking. She's not here to judge, only to show you two paths, two possible futures. Which pathway will you choose?
You will meet Hope at waypoints on the pathway and will discover the benefits of giving up smoking, or what couild happen if you chose not to quit.
Weald Creative worked with the research team to design and produce an experience that presents the key themes as fun and engaging characters. We designed an innovative navigation system to guide the user along a liner pathway using just their hands, the result is a Virtual Reality experience that anybody can use, even somebody that has never used a headset, or even played a video game.
We created simple interactive games like feeding the Senses Plant apples or watching your hard-earned savings go up in smoke. Throughout the experience, the user will be delighted with a range of mini activities.
Weald Creative designed, modelled, rigged, textures and animated all of the characters. The app was built with Unity for the Meta Quest 3 headset.

Virtual Reality is not just for games or training simulations. It can be used as therapy. It has been called the Empathy Machine, because of the very powerful and visceral reactions patients have when immersed in these types of experiences. One of the most popular and succesful uses for Virtual Reality is in Healthcare, with some incredible success stories for patients. Burn victims have managed their pain with VR, and others have combatted their phobias.
Deploying a Virtual Reality solution does not need to be daunting. We can help you plan and budget your project, and will be a strategic partner post-release and throughout the product lifecycle.
